PREVENTIVE CARE IS IMPORTANT – it will help improve our health, quality of life and prosperity.
What is Primary Care and What do Primary Care Providers (PCP’s) Do?
Primary Care Providers (PCP’s) act as one’s entry point into the healthcare system and as the continuing focal point for all needed health care services. They are generalists with a focus on preventative and continuous care. They often address the entire person, take into considerations of value, life style, and preferences. Their care process usually starts with a wellness physical. PCP’s see patients for common ailments including respiratory infections, headaches, back pain, and urinary infections.
Study have found that adults with primary care were significantly more likely to fill more prescriptions and to have a routine preventive visit in the past year. They were also significantly more likely to receive more high-value care such as cancer screenings, including colorectal cancer screening and mammography.
