National Immunization Awareness Month

National Immunization Awareness Month

August is National Immunization Awareness Month designated by CDC. This annual observance brings us to remind everyone that on-time vaccine prevents diseases. This year, it also serves as an important reminder to catch up on routine wellness visits and vaccinations that may have been disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each August, Philadelphia also sees an influx of college and graduate students entering or returning to campuses. All colleges require a complete immunization record, which is for the safety of students as well as the public.

Common Vaccinations and Doses for College Students – Simplified:

  • MMR: two doses
  • Varicella: two doses
  • Hep B: three doses
  • Meningococcal: one dose
  • COVID vaccine: two doses
  • TDAP: 1 dose every 10 years
  • Tuberculosis Screening such as PPD

Don’t forget Flu vaccine on yearly basis, and COVID boosters.
